His symphonic repertoire ranges from the Classical period to contemporary music, with a particular fondness for Russian symphonic music – especially Shostakovich – and for the Italian symphonic tradition spanning the late nineteenth and early twentieth centuries. Of the latter, he has conducted the complete ‘Roman Trilogy’, *Belkis, Queen of Sheba*, Respighi’s *Botticelli-inspired Triptych* and *Suite for Strings*, Malipiero’s *Symphony of the Sea*, *Notturno*, ‘Novelletta’ and ‘Giga’ by Martucci, as well as Ponchielli’s ‘Elegia’. He has also recorded an album dedicated to Puccini’s symphonic works. His symphonic repertoire also includes several milestones in orchestral literature, amongst which the complete cycle of Beethoven’s symphonies, Mozart’s late symphonies, Tchaikovsky’s Fourth, Fifth and Sixth Symphonies, right through to Strauss and Schoenberg.
