Gustavo Gabriel Otero: Beatrice Venezi and *La traviata* in Buenos Aires

(28 November 2025) Review of ‘Proopera 40 anos’

Venezi played with agile tempos, but not artificially accelerated ones. He adapted perfectly to the needs of each of the main performers in terms of phrasing and dynamics. The preludes sounded refined and, when circumstances warranted it, as in the choir at the end of the party at Violetta’s house in the first act, the corresponding strength, power and volume were present. All in all, a very good musical performance, solid, powerful, homogeneous and flawless, with very good response from the orchestra’s teachers. Fortunately, he did not cut the phrases at the end of Alfredo, Germont padre, the doctor and Annina, as is unfortunately becoming increasingly common in theaters around the world and that radically changes the final written by Verdi.
